Andre Nowlin & Family

Please pray for Andre Nowlin and his family following the passing of his mother, Sarah Nowlin, on September 25. The family thanks everyone who has shown them love and support and welcomes you to her homegoing service.

Saturday, October 3: Public viewing, 11:00 AM–12:00 PM; funeral service, 12:00–12:45 PM at First Baptist West, 1801 Oaklawn Ave., Charlotte, NC 28216. Burial will follow at Beaties Ford Memorial Gardens, 11201 Beaties Ford Rd., Huntersville, NC 28078.

A meal train has been set up for the family.

In Loving Memory of Corey Jemal Horton

We extend our heartfelt love, prayers and condolences to Sharlene Horton and her family on the passing of her husband, Corey Jemal Horton.

Saturday, October 3: Viewing, 12:00–1:00 PM; funeral service, 1:00 PM at St. Paul AME Church, 443 Finley Ave. NW, Lenoir, NC 28645.

Please Pray for Pat Greenberge

Pat Greenberg, mother of Mark Summers, is recovering at home after a severe infection caused lower back inflammation and nerve compression, leading to temporary paralysis from the hips down. She is undergoing physical therapy, and her medical team anticipates improved sensation and mobility as the inflammation subsides. Please keep Pat in your prayers as she heals.

Mark your calendars for Saturday, December 19! Our entire church family is invited to celebrate the holiday season together with food, fellowship and fun. More details will be shared in the coming weeks.

HOPE: Volunteer with Nourish Up

Saturday, October 10 • 8:45–11:00 AM

Help Nourish Up staff its new warehouse by sorting donations, preparing food boxes and filling pantry orders. We need 25 volunteers, ages 14 and older. Invite a friend to serve with you!

All volunteers must register through the HOPE Charlotte Volunteer Hub (a HOPE account is required), wear closed-toe shoes and sign the Nourish Up waiver on arrival. Questions? Contact Mike Dames at mikedames@prodigy.net.

HOPE: 2026 Annual Food Drive: Help Fight Local Hunger

Our Annual Food Drive begins Sunday, October 4. Start collecting non-perishable items now and bring them to church on our single collection date, November 14.

All donations will restock The Charlotte Church Food Pantry and support our community partner, Nourish Up. Invite your coworkers and professional networks to join us in helping neighbors facing food insecurity. Thank you for your generosity.

HOPE: Let’s Get Moving: Join a Walking Group

Join friends, family and neighbors for movement, fellowship and encouragement. Find a group near you:

North • Saturdays: 2nd Saturday of each month, 8:00–9:30 AM at Kirk Farm Park, 210 East Mallard Creek Church Rd. Leader: Stephanie Dixon, 704-794-2111.

North • Mondays: Every Monday at 6:30 PM at Crunch Fitness Charlotte University; meet at the back of the parking lot. Leader: Art Cosper, 704-614-1348.

South • Mondays: Every Monday at 6:00 PM at Squirrel Lake Park, 1631 Pleasant Plains Rd., Matthews. Leader: Howard Williams, 201-970-4205.

Teen Nighttime Corn Maze

Teens, grab a flashlight for a night of fall fun with a hayride, a nighttime corn maze, challenges throughout the maze and food trucks! See the Teen Band event for the event date, location and RSVP. Questions? Contact Jessica Trammel.

Tickets: Adults $22.51; ages 6–12 $19.36. For teens, a signed permission slip is the ticket.

Dining with Divas

Sisters and friends available during the day are welcome to join us on the second Wednesday of each month for food, fellowship and a special activity or outing.

Wednesday, October 14 • 12:00 PM at Sharon Lee’s home, 14910 Crooked Branch Lane, Charlotte, NC 28278. We’ll also have an accessory and jewelry exchange. Please bring gently used items you’d like to give away.
